WE RUN FOR BEER

I was sidelined for a good chunk of last week with some heel pain, but when Thursday rolled around my feet felt good enough to cross another 5K off my list.  Since the last two Brewery Running Series 5K's were at my "home" and "work" breweries, I decided to run the actual race courses.  So, at around lunchtime Thursday I headed out to Badger Hill to run the course there.

It was.... well, it's in an industrial park, and so there were stunning views of warehouses.  Thankfully, there wasn't a lot of traffic, as 2/3 of the course was on roads with no shoulders and no sidewalks.  I did get to run past the My Pillow warehouse (i maaaaaybe used hand gestures), an Amazon distribution facility, a FedEx hub, and the location of my wife's first job after college.  About a mile of the course was on a fun little trail that went through an "unnatural wetland" area, with a runoff stream and a quarry lake, so that was at least something.  After I finished, I stopped at Badger Hill for a growler.

Saturday, I went down to Dundas to run the Chapel Brewing 5K.  That was a much better course, on the Mill City trail next to the Cannon River.  Nice little combination of woods and farmland.  While I was going to stop in at Chapel and get some crowlers, when I was leaving i noticed a line of about 10 people waiting to get in, and due to social distancing I didn't want to intrude.  I'll pop in next week and redeem my voucher and get some local beers.

And with that, I've finished 4 out of the 4 Virtual 5K's I signed up for.  I may add a few more just to stay motivated and support some local breweries.
