Proper Footwear
As of yesterday, the Twin Cities have set a new record for snowfall in the month of February, with 31.5 inches total (and of course, Minnesota is like "BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!" so there is also a blizzard expected Saturday). At this point in 2017 (but not last year, as that was a lazy running year for me), I had been running outside for several weeks. So, if i ever hope to hit my outdoor routes before Ragnar this summer, i'm gonna need some GOOD OLD FASHIONED TRAPPER SHOES.
As a brief aside, did you know there's such a thing as primitive biathlon? So like, biathlon itself is an amazingly awesome sport, because it combines cross country skiing and shooting, a concept which only make sense if you're Nordic enough to have used lefse as a burrito wrapper at some point in your life. The primitive variant does away with such high technology as skies and the centerfire rifle and uses snowshoes and blackpowder. I'm assuming flapjacks and molasses are also somehow involved.
MOVING ON. Until the snow finally melts (legit probably mid April at this point), i'm gonna be treadmillin' it, and was able to get back into the swing of things this week. I've got a long ways to go until I'm Ragnar ready, but it feels good to be putting in some C25K intervals again.
