A Better Motivator
So while perusing those interwebs for running memes (of which there are many, the majority of which are just plain not funny), I found a great graphic that showed how many calories were burned in various races, and the number of cupcakes that would equal out to.
Now, that's all well and good, but I ran into two problems with that math. (HA! RAN INTO! See, this is the type of running humor that exists and it is terrible). First off, the calorie calculations appear to be for somebody who is half my size. Secondly... how many cupcakes can you really eat? As mentioned several times, I'm old, and as such, just can't handle that much sugar any more. What I can handle a lot of (HA! CAN! That is exactly the type of pun I'm going to try and avoid going forward) is BEER.
So, I adjusted the calorie intake for a man of my huskulature, and mathed that out into SWEET DELICIOUS BEERS.
I didn't include the full marathon in there because that combination of mileage and BAC would kill most horses, let alone runners.
It's worth noting that these calculations are for Minnesota's own Surly Furious, a respectable 6.7% ABV and 195 calories per 12oz can. Adjusted for Miller Lite, as an example, the total cans more than double.
Which, if you're curious, for a full marathon equals an amazing 52 cans of Miller Lite.
