It starts.
Monday, December 31st, 2018, 11:37:13 PM, I engaged in the following text exchange with my long time friend and wealthy gadabout Ben.
Then I actually looked up information about Ragnar; I've had a few Facebook friends run it, but I didn't actually know... you know... the details. Shortly after, I proceeded to send Ben this text:
Here's the deal; I am not a fit man. I've never exercised consistently, I've never been an athlete, and I love craft beer and taquitos. While I have slowly taken an interest in the last few years in becoming healthier, it's been a slow process. On my birthday five years ago, I abruptly got up and ran a mile, confusing the hell out of my wife. I then started a C25K program, completed the program.... and then didn't run again for eight months (Minnesota winters are a major demotivator). I've since done the same thing every single summer, restarting a C25K program and running at least one 5K race. It's hard to explain; I don't actually like running, but I enjoy challenging myself to get out there and do something I don't want to do, and I know that I feel better overall when I run several times a week.
ANYWAY.
As it stands, I'm 41 years old, and I'm out of shape, and OH SHIT I'M RUNNING A RAGNAR IN EIGHT MONTHS. We're putting together this blog as a motivator and a way to track our progress. So why A Feast For Wolves? Well, our race is from St. Paul to Duluth, Minnesota, and at one point I joked that I was most likely going to get eaten by wolves outside of Hinckley during a 2am leg of the race.
